ABOUT "SHORT NOSE"
Get rid of your short and upturned nose and discover the golden ratio!
A short and uptumed nose will make the nostrils very visible. In this case, surgery is performed to lengthen the nose tip and improve the overall shape of the nose.
In most cases, a short nose appears upturned with nostrils appearing visible from the front. Normally, the angle between the nose tip and the lips is within the range of 90~100", but for a short nose, it is around 105~110", and this is why the nostrils are highly visible, which not only is aesthetically undesirable, but also causes stress to the individual. If it is less severe, a simple nose tip correction procedure can help improve the appearance, but in severe cases, all of the structural components of the nose (incl. skin, cartilage, nose bridge, mucosal membrane, and nasal septum) must be corrected and improved. In most cases, this type of nose appears short and small, so it is important for the surgeon to have the necessary know-how and experience in collecting a sufficient amount of nasal septal cartilage, while ensuring safety.

SURGICAL PROCEDURE

If the alar cartilages forming the tip of the nose flare up, it will lead to an upturned nose.
In this case, the upper part of the alar cartilages is cut and the lower ends are fixed downward to make the cartilages appear elongated at the bottom.

If it is not sufficient to just lengthen the nose tip by cartilage plasty, an additional cartilage is grafted between the nasal septal cartilage and alar cartilages as a way to elongate the tip of the nose. The cartilage used in the grafting is typically the nasal septal cartilage.

A rhinoplasty procedure is performed after the nasal cartilage plastic surgery and cartilage grafting if the patient wants a taller nose bridge and tip. In this case, an implant is inserted in the nose bridge area, while an ear cartilage is typically used on the tip of the nose.
